AUGUST 29 - WHAT'S IN YOUR FOUNDATION? - In the story of the 3 pigs they all made efforts to protect themselves from the wolf.  All had the same goal in mind but each one used a different material.

As we struggle through life and the journey we are on, to protect ourselves from the wolves in the world we must ask the same question: What will our foundation be?  Jesus, as He teaches us about the Kingdom, proposes that same question: What will be your foundation?

AUG 22 - MUSTARD AND YEAST - All projects have a beginning and an end - we seem to get a little impatient when projects take longer than we want though.  It's an instant world we live in today.

Wasn't any different over 2000 years ago.  People heard Jesus talk about the Kingdom of God and they wanted it RIGHT NOW.

Jesus used the example of a mustard seed or yeast when describing the Kingdom of God.  It's a process that people understood then - and you know what - it still applies today.

This week Brian looks at how using the examples Jesus did in his parables help us understand the spiritual truths He was teaching.

AUGUST 15 - LOST AND FOUND - What's the most valuable thing you've ever lost?  Your cell phone?  Your wallet?  How did you feel when you found it?

Some of us have experienced the frustration and worry of being lost while trying to navigate through a strange city or neighborhood.  But all of us have been spiritually lost.

This week, Neil looks at two of Jesus' parables in Luke 15:1-10 and discuses what it means to be lost - and found.

AUGUST 8 - WHAT'S NEXT - Have you ever wondered what would happen when you leave one ingredient out of a recipe?

Over the past 4 weeks we've taken a look at the 4 main ingredients of the Acts 2 church.  All of the ingredients tie together and when one is missing the recipe is not complete.  We end up with a mess.

If we include all the basic ingredients in our church today God can do some incredible things.  We are going to hear Sunday about what the early church did when they got the recipe right.

AUGUST 1 - FREE SMART PHONE APP. - Do you ever think about what prayer really is and how we are to pray?

Too often we can treat prayer like the 99 cent app that you can download and use at your own convenience.  But there is more to prayer than simply giving a list of our demands to God.

This Sunday at the River check out how the early church approached prayer and made it a part of their identity.  Which by the way...true prayer is much more than a smart phone application - it's what connects us directly with God!

JULY 25 - CHURCH AND CUPCAKES? - Rev-Elect Brian E Quall:  Acts 2 reveals that the early believers broke bread together, meaning they celebrated communion with one another.

Brian shares what communion truly means for us today. Communion is sharing as a community in the sacrifice Jesus made for us so that we can have a personal relationship with Him.  It is both a time to remember and to celebrate.

Over the next 2 weeks come and find out how this all ties to cupcakes. It's going to be a great day at the River!

JULY 18 2010 - CHURCH AND CANADIAN CUPCAKES? - Asst. Pastor Neil Downey:  Acts 2 says that the believers were devoted to fellowship and had everything in common.  Is that even possible?  Do I have anything in common with those yahoos at The River?

Question: Neil looks at what true fellowship really is and what we really have in common as a missional community.

Over the next 4 weeks come and find out how this all ties to cupcakes. It's going to be a great day at the River!
